Why Quality Science Education at School level is important to country’s growth?
It’s a known fact that India produces the maximum number of engineers compared to the other countries in the world. While the fore mentioned reason is good enough to celebrate, there’s also another fact that people are unaware of. In spite of producing the highest number of engineers, unfortunately, we rank 60th on the Global Innovation Index.
We believe this is definitely an area of concern as the missing link here is the method in which science education is imparted in our country.
What do we believe in?
We believe that school education need not be restricted to classroom or textbooks; it is important for children to not only have practical knowledge of Science and Math but also have an enjoyable learning experience. We intend to encourage a positive temperament towards science & math that makes them love the subjects, and not be scared of it.
STEM believes that every child, irrespective of class and social background, deserves access to quality education.
What is STEM Learning?
STEM Learning, a social enterprise that is silently revolutionising the way young children from underprivileged schools can learn the basic concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) using Mini Science Centres.
Our Mini Science Centre comprises of 65+ plug & play models, 120+ fundamental concept of math & science, & 33 colour coded backdrops along with user manuals (available in English and four other regional languages) in accordance of SSC, ICSE, CBSE boards and have SCERT certifications.
STEM is an organization aimed to facilitate and implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We have associated with more than 45+ Corporate CSR partners and stand committed to the cause of making education more engaging and interactive.
Tinker Lab is a program where students’ imagination meets technology. It’s a platform where they not only learn and innovate but design and upgrade as well.
STEM Tinker Lab have been made to develop modern skill sets amongst underprivileged youngsters by providing them with access to multiple technologies and enabling them to build/make new solutions to solve the challenges present in the society.
The objective is to build curiosity, creativity, imagination in young minds and to develop skills like Design Mind Set, Computational Thinking, Adaptive Learning, Physical Computing etc. This helps immensely because the global scenario of Future Work Skills is increasingly being considered as an important skill set for creating new avenues, providing solutions to global problems, and leading the global economy towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
STEM Tinker Lab contains educational “do it yourself” kits and equipment on – Science, Electronics, Robotics, Open source microcontroller boards, Sensors and 3D printers etc.
School teachers will be motivated to use these resources and conduct tinker session for students.
Once set up, the Tinker Labs are kept in the schools only.
– Five Software Package for all the modules.
– Arduino Kit – (Arduino board, Jumper cables, LEDs, Breadboard, Buzzer, Button, USB cable).
– Android Phone.
– Robotic Kit – (Robot Chassis, Sensors, Cables, USB Cable, Motors).
– A lesson plan for all the modules.
– Video tutorials for all the tinkering session.
– Teachers to be trained continuously for four months.
– Tinkering Event at the end of the year to showcase projects made by students.
