Technology is upgrading day by day and hence to achieve its maximum potential; it must be harnessed and implemented properly. This requires that the facilitator, the teacher must possess a certain set of knowledge and skills to understand how and when various teaching aids best support their curricula. And so teachers must also be provided with the proper training before being handed new teaching aids.

We at STEM Learning provide teachers of remote location schools with easy to handle Plug & play models (Mini Science Centre) & proper training so that they can teach students efficiently. Because, if teachers won’t exactly know how the models work then how can we expect them to enlighten students. So for achieving the goal, it is made sure that the teachers are trained properly.

Recently, HINDALCO MAHAN collaborated with STEM Learning and installed Mini Science Centre at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. After the installment, a successful Teachers Training Program was conducted by the trainers of STEM Learning. 5 teachers were trained during the program with the purpose of bridging the gap between textbook knowledge and enquiry based learning. 3 HINDALCO MAHAN CSR co-ordinators were also present. The whole program – Mini Science Centre & Teachers Training were supported by HINDALCO MAHAN.

No education system in the world has excelled without making a significant investment in building a cadre of quality teachers. Yet teacher’s training is one of the weakest links in the education system. Teachers, especially those who serve in the poorest of rural and urban areas need to be trained & prepared to deal with extremely diverse classrooms of mostly first generation learners.

On 16th March 2018, Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd. made an alliance with STEM Learning & conducted a CSR activity of Teacher Training Program in Baliyanagar Manekpur Primary School, Manekpur, Gujarat. The session went off very friendly and total 7 teachers were trained.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Kalpataru Power Transmission believes that sharing a success with the larger communities and societies is both a responsibility as well as an opportunity to bring difference and betterment in the lives of people and help them become part of the mainstream development.

Mr Dineshchandra M Vaghela, Science Teacher, Baliyanagar Manekpur Primary School quotes, “Mini Science Centre Models are very simple and easy to handle. Teaching will become easy and it will save the energy and time of teachers.”

Empowering Rural Teachers to Improve Quality of Education

A Trainer inspires people. He wants people to look at him and say “because of you, I didn’t give up”.

A trainer is a person who teaches skills to people and prepares them for a job, activity or a sport. In STEM Learning, we provide rural area schools with Teacher Training Program so that the teachers of these schools are well groomed to enlighten underprivileged students. The trainer explains the detailed information regarding Mini Science Centre models and backdrops to the teachers. But it isn’t as easy as it sounds. They have to face a lot of difficulties on their way to success.

It becomes difficult for STEM trainers to achieve their goal because of the various reasons. And these difficulties start from the very first step of reaching out to the schools. Even the facilities in rural areas become a big obstacle. Not only this, communicating to the school authorities become so tough because of the language barriers. But even after the inconvenience, our trainers achieve what they want to i.e. to empower rural teachers & benefit underprivileged students through Corporate Social Responsibility.

Mr. Adesh Patil, one of the STEM trainers shared his experience of Teachers Training Program with us. He talked about the difficulties faced by him during traveling, communicating and due to the timings. In rural areas, there are a lot of connectivity issues and almost no public transport. He said ‘a lot of time either we have to wait for long hours for a bus or we have to go by walking’, and this incident took place in Mahabubabad Telangana.

Mr. Tanaji Shinde, STEM trainer covers Teacher Training Program all over Maharashtra. He mentioned the problems they have to face due to the shortage of electricity. He said ‘Once in Dahanu, I was training in a school located in a forest area. While the training program was going on, we experienced a power cut. One of the teachers was so helpful, as she knew that this training would bring great benefit to her students, so she herself arranged an inverter so that training can be completed’. He added that teachers in rural areas are so supportive and they really hope that their students may achieve heights one day.

Rural area schools do not have enough teachers so only 4 to 5 of them can join in for the training program while remaining 2 to 3 have to be with the students, because of which trainers have to finish training as soon as possible. Even they have to decide which shift they must opt for training, either morning or afternoon because all the teachers cannot be trained in one shift.

“But when a student from Sindhudurg, Maharashtra made a fire extinguisher and another made a set-top box & a laptop cooler then all these obstacles became a mere memory to look back at. When students get benefitted by our training all the pain goes away and the thing that stays forever is pride. When we reach our goals the hurdles makes our journey more memorable.”, they added.

Teacher Training Program

When teachers become pupils, they emerge empowered, skilled and capable.

Teacher Training Program

The Teacher Training Program involves STEM trainers, training the teachers of the schools to use the Science and Math models in an effective and highly interactive manner. This marks a new beginning for them as they are introduced to a new system altogether.

We are on a mission to empower teachers from underprivileged school by providing them easy teaching aids with STEM Mini Science Centre, We aim to bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and practical learning of science.

Teachers are trained to arrange the models as per the syllabus and present the different types of theories that are associated with the models from classes five through ten.

Furthermore, STEM Learning stays in touch with the teachers, providing help and support to them whenever needed. Follow-up visits are conducted in the schools to help teachers clear any doubts that they might have regarding the models or procedure. We provide support through telephones and practice videos which motivates and encourages them to give their best while teaching.
